Los Indianos 2020 in El Ingeniero
On February 24 the festival of Los Indianos is celebrated. Do we already have our menu available?
By Indiano we know the emigrant who left in search of a better life in the Americas and who returns after having achieved wealth and prosperity. These migratory flows were lived between the sixteenth and early twentieth centuries. Cuba was one of the main destinations. The arrival was by boat.
The Feast of the Indianos first appears in the 1920s but is consolidated in 1966 when Los Indianos become part of the Carnival program. It is in the 80s when talcum powder was added to the Indian party giving rise to the party as it is celebrated today. The assistant should know that the white and cream tones of the beige range are the colors that such clothing should have. The Fiesta de Los Indianos has a strong and indissoluble Cuban component, this is because Cuba was one of the main centers of emigration of many palm trees. The character of La Negra Tomasa was devised by the neighbor of the capital Víctor Lorenzo Díaz, better known as Sosó.
Every Monday of Carnival thousands of Indians await the arrival of the Negra Tomasa in the Plaza de España that during that day is renamed as Plaza de La Habana. After this reception officially begins the Carnival of Los Indianos.
Now that you know what this popular celebration on La Isla de la Palma means, you will understand that we are going to join the party and enjoy the typical clothes, the music, the talcum powder, the black tomasa …
